Truck Purchase
January 08, 2017

The Mayfield Fire District distributed bids in September of 2016 for the purchase of a new pumper/tanker.  The bids were received and reviewed and the Board approved the purchase of a pumper/tanker from KME Kovatch Fire at a cost of $414,00.  The Board is excited to stay within budget and that through careful planning and saving, is able to pay for the truck without financing.  The funds are in a reserve account which calls for a permissive referendum resolution to remove the funds to use for the purchase.  The Board passed the following resolution on December 2, 2016:

 

 

RESOLUTION OF THE MAYFIELD FIRE DISTRICT NO. 2

Whereas, the Mayfield Fire District No. 2 has resolved to purchase a new pumper;

Whereas, sufficient reserve funds have been saved for this general purpose of acquiring new apparatus and equipment;

Whereas the total cost of the purchase for the pumper is anticipated to be: $414,000.

Whereas, the expenditure of reserve fund monies from this general type fund requires that the resolution to be subject to permissive referendum;

NOW THEREFORE, upon motion made, seconded and discussion held, and subject to permissive referendum, the fire commissioners of the fire district resolves as follows:

•1.      The Mayfield Fire District No. 2 has resolved to purchase a new pumper in the amount of $414,000;

 

•2.      Up to $350,000 may be withdrawn from the Capital Reserve Fund for vehicle and equipment purchases to be applied towards the total cost of the project. The withdrawal may be taken in one or more amounts;

 

•3.      No funds may be withdrawn until the passage of thirty days from the date of publication of the abstract of this resolution;

 

•4.      The Secretary is hereby directed to place an abstract of the resolution upon the town's sign board and the town's and district's website immediately, which must remain there for at least 15 days;

 

•5.      The Secretary is hereby directed to place an abstract of the resolution upon the fire district's website immediately, which must remain there for at least 15 days;

 

•6.      The attorney is hereby directed to place such abstract in the newspapers having general circulation in this district, being the Leader Herald.

This resolution was approved by a majority of the Commissioners, on the 2nd day of December, 2016.

The following legal was placed in the Leader Herald newspaper together with a block ad. 

 

By resolution dated the 2nd of day of December, 2016, the Mayfield Fire District No. 2 has approved a resolution subject to permissive referendum to withdraw up to $350,000 from a Reserve Fund utilized to purchase vehicles and equipment, to purchase a new pumper. Petitions seeking a referendum on this question must be submitted to the secretary of the Mayfield Fire District No. 2 no later than thirty (30) days after the date of publication of this notice.

2017 Fire District Budget
December 31, 2016
The Board of Commissioners adopted a 2017 Budget at a meeting held on 11/01/2016.  The full content of the budget is located under the link for the page ANNUAL BUDGET. The Board adopted a budget that stayed within the tax cap recommended by the State and will include the purchase of a new pumper/tanker to be delivered in late 2017.  The District will also continue maintainence on the municipal building and plans to put a top coat of asphalt on the parking lot completing a five year project to upgrade the parking lot.
2017 Election Results for Fire Department
December 31, 2016
The Mayfield Fire Department held their annual election of officers on December 5, 2016.  The membership elected Chris Mraz as Fire Chief, Josh Mormile as First Assistant Chief and Tom Michaels as Second Assistant Chief.  The slate of chiefs submitted and the Fire District approved the following as line officers for 2017:  Ralph Marshall - First Captain, Cory Berlin - Second Captain, Tim S. Hart, Jr - First Lieutenant, Jon Becker - Second Lieutenant, Mark VanAllen - EMS Captain, Dan Verkleir - Fire Police Captain, Tim C. Hart - First Fire Police Lieutenant, Steve Hathaway - Second Fire Police Lieutenant and Michelle Buckley - Safety Officer.  The Fire Department meets on the first Monday of each month and welcomes applications for membership.
2017 Election Results for Fire District

The Fire District held their annual election for the postion of fire commissioner on December 13, 2016.  The result of the election welcomes Cassie Kristel to a five year term on the Board of Commissioners.  Her term will run from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2021.  She will serve will fellow board members Jim Yager, Tush Nikollaj, Pete Wilcox and Lisa Penge.  The Board will hold their Organizational Meeting on January 11, 2017 at 6:30 pm.  At that time, a monthly date for their board meeting will be decided and other annual appointments and designations.

The public is welcome to attend.

The results for the annual election of a commissioner to the Mayfield FIre District welcomes Lisa Penge to a five year term.  Her term is January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2019.  She joins fellow board members Tush Nikollaj, James Yager, Pete Wilcox and Chairman for 2015 - Norman Stahl.  The Board meets on the third Thursday of each month at the Mayfield Municipal Building at 6:30 pm in the upstairs meeting room.  The public is welcome to attend.

Election Results 2013
January 28, 2014
The annual election for five year term of commissioner for the Mayfield Fire District was held on December 10, 2013.  The results of the election for the five year term (01/01/2014-12/31/2018) was Tush Nikollaj. He will join fellow board members - James Yager, Peter Wilcox, Lisa Penge and Norman Stahl.  The Board meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm at the Mayfield Municpal Building located at 28 North School Street in the Village of Mayfield.

Annual Election Results 2012
January 07, 2013
The annual election for five year term of commissioner for the Mayfield Fire District was held on December 11, 2012.  The results of the election for the five year term (01/01/2013-12/31/2017) was James Yager - 35 votes.  The results of the election for the three year term (01/01/2013-12/31/2015) was Peter Wilcox - 34 votes.  James Yager and Peter Wilcox will join Tush Nikollaj, Lisa Penge and Norman Stahl on the Board.

Annual Election

The Mayfield Fire District will hold their annual election for a fire commissioner on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Firehouse.  Due to a vacancy on the Board, there will be the annual five year term and the remainder of a three year term on the ballot.  Any member residing in the Mayfield Fire District is eligible to submit a letter of interest for the five year position or three year position of fire commissioner - please make sure to mark three or five year on letter of intent.  All letters of interest must be postmarked by November 23, 2011 to MFD #2, PO Box 722, Mayfield, NY 12117.  You must be registered to vote in the general election to vote in the District election.

The Mayfield Fire District # 2 reserves the right to reject any and all bids.  Payment must be received in full within 30 days of award of bid.

Annual Election Results
January 17, 2012
The annual election for five year term of commissioner for the Mayfield Fire District was held on December 13, 2011.  The results of the election for the five year term (01/01/2012-12/31/2016) were Norman Stahl - 27 votes.  The results of the election for the three year term (01/01/2012-12/31/2014) were Lisa Penge - 12 votes, Kenneth Cronin - 11 votes, David Tabor - 5 votes and Dan Sardelii - no votes.  Norman Stahl and Lisa Penge will join Tush Nikollaj, James Yager and Karen Mraz on the Board.

The Mayfield Fire District will hold their annual election for a fire commissioner on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Firehouse.  Any member of the fire district is eligible to submit a letter of interest for the five year position of fire commissioner.  All letters of interest must be postmarked by November 23, 2011 to MFD #2, PO Box 722, Mayfield, NY 12117.  You must be registered to vote in the general election to vote in the District election.
Fire at Presbyterian Church
April 28, 2011
The Mayfield Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the Mayfield Presbyterian Church on Thursday, April 28, 2011.  The Department was assisted with mutual aid from Northville, Broadalbin, Pleasant Square, Berkshire, Edinburg, Hope and ladder trucks from City of Gloversville and Johnstown.  On stand by at mutual aid stations were Perth and Meco.  There are pictures of the fire located on the website under Fire - Presbyterian Church located on the left.  The department would like to thank those who assisted and supported with their efforts in the fire.
Annual Election Results
December 31, 2010
The annual election for five year term of commissioner for the Mayfield Fire District was held on December 14, 2010.  The results of the election were Karen Mraz - 18 votes and Dan Sardelii - 7 votes.  Karen Mraz will serve a term commencing January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2015.  The other members of the Board are William Guido, Tush Nikollaj, James Yager and Norm Stahl.

BLOOD DRIVE
August 11, 2010
The Mayfield Fire District will be working with the American Red Cross to host Blood Drives in the Mayfield area.  The next Blood Drive is scheduled for Saturday, August 21, 2010 between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm.  This is the same day as the Bannertown Parade and Fair.  Stop in before, during or after the parade and help donate blood.  The Red Cross is in need of Blood Type A & O positive as local levels are becoming low.  Please help spread the word to stop by and make a donation.
Preliminary 2010 Budget Posted

The Board of Commissioners set a Public Hearing on the proposed 2010 budget for the Mayfield Fire District on Tuesday, October 20, 2010 at 7:00 pm at the Mayfield Municipal Building.  The proposed budget is available on the website under Annual Budget on the left side of the webpage.  Public comment is welcome.

Shirts For Sale
May 23, 2008
The Mayfield Fire Department is holding an ongoing fundraiser by selling t-shirts that show support for the volunteers of the department.  The $15.00 donation goes to the Fire Department and is used to help provide items needed that are not covered in their annual budget.  The shirts are available during business hours inside the municipal building on the second floor.  They are also available at some of the functions held by the Mayfield Fireman's Association located across the street from the firehouse.
2007 Open House
September 24, 2007
The Mayfield Fire District # 2 together with the Mayfield Fire Department will hold an Open House on Thursday, October 11, 2007 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. and on Saturday, October 13, 2007 from 8:00 am to 11:00 am.  The public is welcome to stop in and meet the members of the department and district.  There will be exhibits, displays, handouts, fire department demonstrations, tours of the building, department shirts for sale and refreshments.
Grant Equipment Installed
September 13, 2006
The Mayfield Fire District recently received grant monies toward a 60 KW generator, truck exhaust system and a gas monitor.  The gas monitor was purchased in December 2005 and the generator and exhaust system were installed in September 2006.  A special thanks to Firefighter Charles DeVoe for his assistance in securing this grant.
Municipal Building Closed
September 06, 2006
The Mayfield Municipal Building will be closed on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m..  The Mayfield Fire District will be completing installation of a new generator received through a 2006 successful grant.  This new generator will enable the entire building to be operational in the event of a power failure.  The current generator only enables a small portion of the building to be used when there is a loss of power.  Through the grant, the District will be also installing a truck exhaust system and has purchased two gas meters.

The annual physicals for the Mayfield Fire Department will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at 8:00 a.m..  All members are urged to attend.
Ice Rescue Class
March 02, 2006
The Mayfield Fire Department held an ice rescue class on February 18, 2006.  The training exercise was attended by 15 members of the department with both classroom training and water rescue performed.
